Seven Portions of Our Spirits

Our spirits came from God, created in His likeness with His essence. Our spirits are made of light, but not just any light - divine light! In God's light is the fullness of Christ. Our spirits represent in the earth the fullness of Christ.

The majesty of our spirits

His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. 2 Peter 1:3-4

May the God of peace set you apart for Himself. May every part of you be set apart for God. May your spirit and your soul and your body be kept complete. May you be without blame when our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. 1 Thessalonians 5:23

Seven is the number of fullness or completion and is often expressed as the number of redeemed man. Clues to understand the nature of our spirits are hidden in the groupings of sevens in scripture:

  • Seven spiritual gifts: Prophet, Servant, Teacher, Exhorter, Giver, Ruler and Mercy (Romans 12)

  • Seven colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo blue and violet

  • Seven days of creation

  • Seven letters to the seven churches in Revelation

  • Seven types of furniture in the tabernacle

  • Seven miracles Jesus did as recorded in the book of John

  • Seven words of Jesus Christ when He suffered on the cross

  • Seven pillars or principles of wisdom (Proverbs 9) Learn more

  • Seven curses and blessings as recorded in the book of Judges Learn more
