Rest
A dream of coming to rest
I had asked Father God about keeping the Old Testament law when I heard Him say, "I want to honor you with My Sabbath." I was a bit confused about that until I had a dream.
I dreamed Father ran a restaurant with many servants and His adult children working in it. We worked hard all week, and the restaurant was closed on Saturday. On Saturday, Father and His family would kick back and relax. In the dream, we were all laid back in recliners, talking, laughing, and enjoying our rest day together. The servants were not included in this intimate family Sabbath gathering.
God’s way of thinking is upside down from man’s way of thinking.[1] As soon as we receive Jesus, our leaders might teach us it's time to learn to be faithful servants of God. We are taught to pray, read our Bible, fast, serve, evangelize, do and then do some more so that we can serve Him well and receive His approval and blessings.

Yes, Father does have for each of us an amazing assignment with plenty of resources to complete that assignment, but when we are first born again into the family of Father, we must learn, as small children, to receive and grow. What good Father would expect a small child to work hard in the family restaurant? There are child labor laws to prevent that! Our training in the family needs to focus on learning and experiencing more and more of who Jesus is and what He has done in and for us until we know with all our hearts there is no poverty or lack in our Father's house.
From this place of being fully loved and enjoying the abundance at our Father's table, our spirit and soul can come to rest in perfect Love. The truth is we are already in the arms of perfect Love even if our spirit or soul doesn’t know it yet. As incredible as it might seem, there’s nothing for us to do to receive His love, approval, and blessings except to believe and receive.
The lie we believe is that we must work for His love, but the truth is God wants to bring us to rest from our labor. Make every effort to enter His rest.[2] Growing into rest brings us to maturity as sons of God. From this place as adult sons of God, He can trust us to steward His resources well and, with these resources, we can build our Father's Kingdom. Our labor is because of our devotion to Him. As young children in our Father's house, we have learned to trust, rest, and obey. As mature adults, we delight in the work of the Kingdom and can confidently do that from a place of rest with our Father.
In the dream, Father had both servants and mature children working in the restaurant, but the servants did not enjoy the Sabbath rest with Him. Do you have a heart of a faithful servant toward God, or do you see yourself as His beloved little child or a mature son of God?
One of the most difficult parts of coming to rest is to believe this rest is not about me, my achievements, or my limitations.
