Authority, Power and Principles
Our weapons of warfare are all based on the victory of the Lord Jesus Christ

Jesus won.
Colossians 2 tells us He defeated death, flesh, the law, sin and ALL His enemies. In addition, He disarmed every enemy, parading them all in a public display of total defeat. His enemies remember those events and know they are a defeated, powerless army. Every encounter we have with the enemy needs to be based on this one fact -- they are already defeated.
If this truth is not deeply implanted in your spirit, study the Word until you know it, see it, and breath it. Only then are you ready to enforce His victory.
Some truths and principles about spiritual warfare:
-
It's worth saying again and again. Spiritual warfare is based on the victory of the Lord Jesus Christ in the finished work of His death, burial, and resurrection.
-
Our authority over the enemy is based on the Power of the Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.
-
Power is given to the enemy by sin, rebellion and iniquity, and by agreements, contracts, and covenants we make with the enemy.
-
Demons have power today only when we give it to them. Someone did something somewhere. We confess and ask forgiveness for whatever was done by whom and when. BUT we are forgiven and based on that forgiveness, the enemy is striped of its power and must go.
-
When doing warfare:
-
We can act as an attorney, priest and friend of the court in behalf of our friend. An attorney knows the law. A priest has first made peace with God. A friend of the court stands for the best interest of both the Court and the accused.
-
Begin by justifying God. It is not God's fault that we or our friend is in trouble.
-
Water baptism is our most powerful deliverance tool. The old person who sinned, rebelled, or made covenant with evil has died with Christ. The new person cannot be prosecuted or held to past covenants. Romans 7 speaks truth.
-
An illegal covenant is still binding until taken to Court and determined to be illegal. We must know intellectually and emotionally how to lift past covenants and agreements. Isaiah 28 can help.
-
Resist the devil and he will flee from you. If he persists, pause and look back to what has not yet been seen or known that gives the enemy power to deceive.
