The word of God as water, a vine or a seed

God gives us many symbols to help us understand the life in the Word of God. One is that of a fish in water. A fish is hatched, lives, breathes, eats, poops, and reproduces in water. Toss a fish out of water onto land and it will flop about a bit and then it will die. So it is with any of us who don’t spend consistent time reading and meditating on scriptures, the Word of God.

In John 15, Jesus said He is the vine, and we are the branches, and, as His word remains in us, we can bear fruit. Jesus makes it clear that if we abide or remain in Him, His word remains in us. So important we are continually eating His word and keeping it in us.

In Matthew 13, Jesus compares the word to seed that a farmer sows. When Jesus gives us His word, it’s like putting a seed in us. As we understand the word and keep it safe within us, not allowing it to plucked away, it produces a crop in us.

If you want to mature as a son of God, able to bring the Kingdom of God to earth, make it a regular practice to read and mediate on the word of God, taking His seed within us, to produce a good crop.

What does it look like to read and mediate on the word of God until the seed becomes engrafted in us? Here's one testimony of overcoming a life-threatening allergy by meditating on the word.
